The FIM is making its debut at the World famous bi-annual Intermot – two-wheel exhibition - to be held in Cologne, Germany from 2nd to 7th October.

During the week the FIM has a packed programme of activities and meetings including a presentation at the 12th International Motorcycling Conference from Erica Manfredi, FIM Technical Commission Coordinator, around the FIM Racing Homologation Programme (FRHP) for Circuit Racing helmets.

For the last 3 years, the FIM Technical and Circuit Racing Commissions have been working for ensuring a more high-end head protection for the riders. A close cooperation has been fostered by the FIM with the helmet manufacturers and the FIM Helmet Standard was developed notably thanks to several meetings with the industry and a pre-testing phase.

The programme is now in its final stages of implementation with some manufacturers having already remarkably succeeded the tests.

The new holographic FIM Homologation Label for helmets is finalised and will be soon available for all manufacturers being part of the Programme for identification and communication purposes. This security label, which will be sawn on helmet chinstraps, presents anti-counterfeiting features, is washable and resistant to chemicals. Through the label serial number, FIM homologated helmets present at races can be tracked individually and Technical Stewards will be able to check their homologation validity.

'It is essential to provide education towards the motorcycling community and Intermot is the perfect platform, as we roll out the programme we will duplicate these initiatives in other relevant events and competition sites' explains Fabio Muner, FIM Sports Director.
